Stray cat strut
What a night! It's mating season for cats and it seemed that all the stray feline mammals in Athens rendez-voused at our block last night. The night was filled with high-pitched wails of vagabond cats in heat.
Having grown up in quiet US suburbia, stray cats and their love rituals were foreign to me. It wasn't until I moved to Athens, where there are two stray cats for every Athenian, that I first heard the love cat call. I remember waking up in the middle of night thinking someone had left a tortured baby at our doorstep. The amorous wailing is hard for the human ear, especially with SO many stray cats looking for some hot stuff baby this evening [disco ball lights up, feline Donna Summer at the mike].
