I was made aware that Daughter#1's former high school principal was running for town council because his brochure (amongst the tens in my mailbox) tried to be witty. His last name is "Perimenis" (which means "wait"), and his campaign slogan: "Don't wait, vote for Wait".
One afternoon his campaign aide, I assume a close relative, called our home (probably got our telephone number illegally from the school records).
Me: Hello?
Her: I'm calling from Principal Perimenis office. Are you aware that he's running for town council?
Me: Yes, I am [silent chuckle, remembered his slogan]. We got a bunch of his personal campaign brochures in our mailbox.
Her: Are you willing to help him out?
Me: [long pause] How?
Her: [sarcastic tone] How does a voter help out a candidate? By voting for him!
Me: [annoyed tone] First you stuff our mailbox with brochures and then you call us to tell us to vote for him? This is pestering...
Her: [immediate apologetic tone] We call because we don't know whether or not the brochures have reached you...
Me: Well, I'm telling you they did. Is it necessary to heckle me via telephone to vote for him also?
Her: I did NO such thing. I'm only asking you to HELP out.
Me: What kind of HELP do you MEAN?
Her: To VOTE FOR HIM! -click- phone hangs up

Tell me about it... my friend recently got a job and the president of the company was also running so as part of the job they made my friend attend all kinds of events to boost his image and bring people along so me being the good friend I am went along and let them bore my silly despite not even being a resident of that area but hey ho.
