Stops signs. A suggestion. If it suits your agenda.

I'm turning left at a not very busy intersection and I have right of way. The car on my left, however, has a STOP sign but keeps rolling through and (luckily) brakes when I get in her way.

Through my open window I point "The STOP sign is there for a reason".

Lady driver calmly retorts, "I know I have a stop sign, but I'm in a hurry".

The Rite of Passage

...when your eldest calls you from her flat in Portugal and asks how long she should leave the toilet disinfectant she bought from the supermarket before she flushes.

Ah, they grow up so fast.
It seems like only yesterday I was changing her diaper.
And now we're exchanging toilet cleaning tips.

Counting pennies

Things were tight. Things will get even tighter. Money keeps running out earlier and earlier every month with the steeping prices. Yesterday at the supermarket I stopped for bread and milk and was surprised to hear the customer ahead of me tell the cashier "Oh no... please don't hand me the small change, I'm trying to get rid of the extra baggage".

Proof that the economic situation hasn't hit all of us.
Yet.

Meanwhile my bladder is doing the conga...

Yes, people at my workplace [insert sarcastic tone] I love it when you stop me in the hallway while on my way to the bathroom and ask the most incredibly annoying computer questions or challenge me to think which computer best suits your home needs because you think you can bother me since I'm not at my desk.

oh yeah, I forgot... [end sarcastic tone]

Easy come, easy go

This morning the subway ticket machine gave me back an extra 50 cents by mistake. On the train platform, a man asking for money approached.
The free 50 cents had found its true owner.

Die-hard Christmas spirit or just plain lazy?

Someone please look at the calendar. That's right. The eighth of January. So why do I still see Christmas decorations and energy-sucking lights dangling around? Huh? Let it go people. It's over. Get off your lazy bums and start packing them trees and lights back in their boxes for next year's Christmas. Santa has left the building, gone home to the melting Pole.

Will daylights saving time please rush this year? I'm drowsy.

The cold set in, here at sunny Greece, land of the Olympian gods yaddah yaddah yaddah. The quilts are on the beds, the jackets hanging in the doorway, the sweaters replaced the T-shirts. Winter is almost official. Almost.

Where's my extra hour of sleep ALREADY?
